British Heritage Dog Breeds

Hi Everyone, I'm a new member. Its really good to see a website dedicated to the importance of promoting these wonderful breeds (as diverse as they are), so I'm pleased to join you all.

Around 20 years ago I had Clumber spaniels, but more recently Cocker Spaniels, which I've done fairly well with in the show rings over the years. I'm currently secretary of one of the largest Cocker Spaniel Clubs in the UK and a short hop from Judging cockers at ticket level. Now, I hear you say "Cocker Spaniels are not a Heritage Breed!!", however, sitting beside me (snoring) is an 11 week old Clumber Spaniel puppy, who I have waited 2 years for ( waiting on 5 litters later)and is now finally here. There! I've finally justified joining what I hope will be a fun and informative forum.

Of course a Cocker Spaniel is a Heritage Breed! We welcome owners and enthusiasts of all British and Irish breeds! It id just that some breeds are doing rather well thank you (Cockers for example), whilst a few others really do need a bit of extra TLC (Clumbers for example!)
As you are experienced in club management, we may be calling on your expertise one day!
We need to be more up front about the wonderful breeds we have in these isles, be they Gundog, Terrier, Hounds, Toys or Working/Pastoral - oh yes, can't forget the Bulldog either in Utility!
Why?
Because they're worth it!

This little whirlwind is called AVA. She is a Tweedsmuir Clumber bred by Hilda Monaghan by Sh.Ch. Tweedsmuir White Hunter x Anbrook Masquerade (BOB CRUFTS '09).

On the subject of Club Administration skills, I'm happy to help.
