Hello, my name is Emily Day and I am a Cardigan Welsh Corgi addict!
I am nearly 23 years old and own a Border Collie x Something, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and two CWCs.
Maggie is a red and white bitch and is 2 and a half and Rex is an 18 week old tri-colour (red points) dog.
When I was a teenager I decided that I wanted an Alasksan Malamute but after meeting some beautiful Cardis from the Teomakleins kennel at Crufts I changed my mind. Just under a year later, my mother and I were watching an episode of Countryfile on tv and there was an article about endangered British dog breeds. My 21st birthday was a few months away, and, when the Cardis appeared on the screen, I jokingly said to my mother "I want one of those for my birthday."
She didn't tell me I couldn't, so I got on the web and was lucky enough to find a litter that were nearly ready to go. We were approved by the breeder and a few weeks later the last of the litter was my early 21st present to myself.
Maggie (Kilvroch Estella) is a brilliant little dog, we have achieved KC Bronze and Silver and have also done some basic agility and Rally Obedience.
I had been plotting another Cardi for a while but I couldn't decided what colour I wanted. I thought I had decided on a Blue Merle but was offered a red pointed tri colour and was immediately smitten. Little Rex is currently a tiny terror but his training is going well and I expect him to have as many certificates as Maggie soon enough.
I am more than happy to bore anyone to death about Cardis and am very keen to help promote them and any other vunerable native breed. I would be happy to help at any events or meetings near to me (south).

Hi Emily,
Welcome to the wonderful world of British Heritage Dog Breeds.
So pleased to hear that the Country File item sparked your interest in this breed as so many of us worked really hard to make that come about on a beautiful February day in the Cotswolds. You just never know who is watching or what effect if any such an item has so feedback is always appreciated. We have a recording of this item available via out front page if you want to watch it again.
Thanks for volunteering to help too - we will probably take you up on that! Check out these pages for upcoming events.
We are working on an event at the end of September in conjunction with the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Association which you should attend. More details on this soon!

Hi Paul.
It is likely that I will be going to the CWCA's show in September, either to show Rex or just look, so I would be happy to lend a hand. I will keep an eye on the website for any updates.
Regards,
Emily

Hi again Emily,
Excellent, I look forward to meeting you on the Sunday.
It will be a super day and you will be pleased to hear that we are looking for Britain's Most Talented Pet in a competition we are calling "The REX Factor", so you just have to enter that as you have a head start on everyone else! Start practising your tricks now!
More soon and welcome aboard.
