Another thought/suggestion (well you did ask!) I read somewhere the suggestion of a kennel of Clumbers at Clumber Park could 'promote' our breed, this could be difficult and perhaps unrealistic.
Having looked through their website, nowhere are Clumber Spaniels mentioned (unless I missed it), this I was astounded at given the long history, including the royal kennel and connections. Perhaps a little persuasion from British Heritage Dog Breeds and perhaps the KC, this link with Clumber Spaniels could be included/reinstated on their website and in their printed literature (and hopefully a website link to this one).

You should never challenge Hilary and I like that because...................!
IF, we could fix up something at Clumber Park, do you think the breed would support it?
We are not thinking HUGE here, just maybe a dozen dogs or so.
Not an easy nut to crack as Clumber Park is owned by the National Trust who are not the easiest of organisations to deal with!

Hi,
I am pretty sure the Clumber Club have tried to set up a fun day, hold the Champ Show there etc on previous occasions, but to no avail. They are a hard one to crack. My suggestion was just to try to get them include the history of Clumber Spaniels on their website and literature, it just seemed an easier option to start with, once the link is established it could be built on. I will be seeing some of the Club members on Monday, I will have a chat with them about it and see how it goes.

funnily enough getting them to include the Clumber Spaniel on some of their literature would be far more difficult option for the initial point of contact.
Hilary and I are working on a brilliantly simple idea for next year - all a bit late now for 2009 as we approach September.

They did use clumber park for a day out Chris, was a few years back, but you can see it on the club's website.

Yes, I know they did years ago, but nothing since which is a great shame. Think it would be good for the Park as well as raising our breed profile.
