Exhibitors at the Midland Game Fair should have had a letter from Toni Woodfield, the Marketing Executive of Countryman Fairs. It looks like he was extremely pleased with the Midland and has said that they are going to have a gundog and British Heritage Breeds pavillion at the Kelmarsh Country Fair (near Kettering) over the Easter weekend, Sunday 4th and Monday 5th April 2010.
This is very significant as Kelmarsh has never had a breeds pavillion of any sort in its 18 year history and many regulars to the Midland thought they would pull out of the Midland itself.
So well done to everyone, you've impressed the organisers of the second largest gamefair in the Country and we've just been given another shop window. So come on you marketing gurus, do your stuff.

PS: Congratulations to Leonie St Clair who has been awarded the prize for the "Best decorated breed exhibit" at the Midland for her Manchester Terriers.

Hi,

Yes I was very impressed and thought you all did an amazing job! The country fair at Kelmarsh has grown significantly in recent years and we felt that BHDB and Gundog Pavilions would make a great addition.

If anyone would like to contact me to talk about the Fair then please do so on 01889 563232.

Kind regards

Toni

Hello Whiptail

It's excellent news isn't it! But it isn't at the marketing stage yet...

There is a lot to do and think about this winter. Toni Woodford is very generously receiving feedback as to how they could make the fairs better for us but perhaps we should be thinking how we can make ourselves better too. So should we be thinking about 'recruiting' more exhibitors? To share the load? Of course. Ideally each stand should have at least one person with an in depth knowledge of their breed covering history, feeding, health, grooming etc. But an enthusiastic pet owner who can share the joy of owning the breed is worth their weight in gold! So the planning has to start with the existing breed reps who know who owns their breed making contacts and encouraging new people to come onboard.

That's just for starters - it is going to be a very busy winter!

Congratulations to Leonie St Clair who has been awarded the prize for the "Best decorated breed exhibit" at the Midland for her Manchester Terriers.

Well done Leonie and helpers! Just look at all that detail along the top of the pen! [photos: John Charlton]
