What exactly does the list of upcoming heritage events mean?
I was at the Fenland Country Fair over the bank holiday weekend but did not see anything related to the heritage breeds.
Did I miss something?

There is a logic behind it Whiptail! These game fairs mostly are annual. Unless people are used to going to them or as your breed does, displaying at them, they might just pass us by unless they are quite local. So the initial idea was just to let our people know when and where they are so that they can pop along with their dogs and some 'cards'. Even walking around the Fair is promotion of our Breeds! They are one of the few events that the public are allowed to take their own dogs.

We will be promoting this site to the main press ready for next year's season. Hopefully all our Breeds will let us know about their events that welcome the public - the press and visitors to the site will see them!

Were you displaying at the Fenland Fair?

Does your working Club have events that the public can attend?

Things are building up gradually with this site - yesterday I took delivery of some super 'generic' British Heritage Dog Breed cards - a test run! more anon...

Sorry but i can't see any logic in that. If something is listed as a Heritage Event then people will be going along to the event expecting to see something organised by the Heritage Breeds and hoping to learn something about them. Your web site is misleading. I went along to the Cumbrian Gamefair on 30th August, (this was advertised on site as one of your heritage breed events,) only to find it had been cancelled over 2 month ago. This event should never have been put onto your web site as it wasn't going ahead even as the web site was being created. Surely you should have known . I'm afraid if this is an indicator of your attempts to promote the breeds to the public then i'm not impressed. More effort required please.

Thank you so much for posting! Feedback is always welcome.

Unfortunately it seems that one of the companies running several Game Fairs seems to have become defunct. Several fairs have been cancelled - Peterborough for example. It is not a Company that we have contacted but would have done in preparation for next year if they still existed.

Only having been running this for a very few weeks things will take time. Yes, alongside our day jobs which feed us and our dogs, we shall have to make more effort.

Whilst I am here - are there any particular breeds you are interested in? Which part of the UK do you live in? Perhaps we can help you meet some of the relevant breeds informally.

I have been a regular exhibitor at the Fenland Country Fair for many years now (pet stall), together with the Suffolk Game Fair organised by the same people. For the past couple of years we have put on a Fun Dog Show for them, as there are so many dog owners who bring their pets along. I am sure the organisers would be more than happy to provide a tent or space for anyone who wanted to promote their breeds. If anyone is interested I will help with the organisation as much as I can. Even if its just one tent or gazebo, provided the breed enthusiasts were happy to come along and provide some literature on their breeds it would be worthwhile. Ideal opportunity to meet the dog owning public. Next year the Suffolk date is changing back to the Bank Holiday in May and the Fenland will as usual be on August Bank Holiday. Jacky
