Anyone know why the KC no longer list the IWS as a vulnerable breed?

Still classed as vulnerable on their Website:

www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/116

www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/808

Where did you find that information please Whiptail?

The KC have revamped their find a breed section of the web site and they now have a summary section for each breed. One of the summary points they list is: Is it a vulnerable breed. To which there is a firm No.
In addition, they have had for a long time an interactive breed finder where you state what size of dog, exercise requirements etc and it lists breeds that match those criteria. One of the questions is something like "do you want a vulnerable breed." If you said yes it used to include the IWS in its list, but no longer.
I wondered whether it had something to do with the dropping of Irish from the original title, to be replaced by British only, but no The Irish Red & White Setter is still listed as vulnerable.
The section is certainly an improvement with a Breed Watch section and a list of breed Accredited breeders etc now included.
This may be an oversight, but our breed club has spent more than 6 months trying to get the KC to put the correct county for our breed club rescue scheme on its web site, so no doubt this won't get changed any time soon.

I checked the DogWorld web site and at least there we still have the BHDB logo against the breed.

As I understand it a breed stays on the vulnerable list until the KC and the breed clubs jointly agree to remove it. This is usually when a breed has registered more than 300 puppies for a couple of years in a row and is looking set to continue registering 300+.

I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the Bloodhound breed club asked to be taken off the vulnerable list as part of a protest against the KC registering some pack hounds of disputed pedigree.

Other "numerically challenged" breeds e.g. the Curly Coat have never been on the vulnerable list and prefer to plough their own furrow!

Thanks Kevin!

Paul is on the KC Vulnerable Breeds Committee and there has been no discussion about this. I suspect it might just be a web posting error.

I suspected the same and I am pleased to say that after being contacted the KC were swift to correct their ommission on its web site and they also corrected the incorrect information about the breed rescue as well.
So well done to the KC for a speedy resolution.
