Last night at the Westminster Kennel Club show in New York an Irish Water Spaniel went group 2 in the Sporting Group.
Keegan (Poole's Ide Got Water) was five days past his 3rd birthday. There is a British connection too as his sire is British bred and with a 10 generation inbreeding coefficient of just 2.6% he demonstrates that it is not necessary to inbreed to have success in the show ring. Keegan is currently the 3rd highest scoring dog in the Sporting group and 8th all breeds in the US.
In the 1970s an Irish Water Spaniel went best in show at Westminster.

A Gordon Setter got group 3.

Great Result - we may be low in numbers but we remain high in quality.
