The dog show is actually a small but significant part of a massive celebration of rural life. Well over 100,000 visitors, many of them making annual pilgrimages, will flock in to the showground over the three days of Thursday 10th to Saturday 13th of June 2010.

An event like the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Show gives those of us with rare dog breeds a chance to show our wares to a very wide audience. A standalone open dog show, even a championship show, may attract very few visitors. Those who do attend are usually well versed in the world of dogs and have already established pretty set ideas about the breeds they’re interested in.

The Kelmarsh Country Fair marks the start of the game fair season. Showcasing country life at its best, the Kelmarsh Country Fair attracts a fusion of families and field sports enthusiasts who take part in an outstanding range of countryside attractions and family entertainment.

British Heritage Dog Breeds are grateful to the organisers, Countryman Fairs Ltd, for their support at their fairs for our BHDBs and for the first time in 2010, there will be a dedicated BHDB pavilion at Kelmarsh Game & Country Sports Fair. A big thank you to all the volunteers who will be manning the pavilion with their dogs over the weekend.

This years 'parade' of vulnerable British and Irish Heritage Dog Breeds will definitely be an unforgettable event. If you can't get to see it 'Live' at the NEC Birmingham, there is great news - it will be streamed live on the internet.

British Heritage Dog Breeds are delighted to officially announce that, at DFS Crufts 2010 on Saturday March 13th at 3.55pm in the main seated arena, we will be staging what is billed in the program as "A Celebration of Vulnerable British Heritage Dog Breeds". Twenty of our rarest British and Irish dog breeds will be taking part and all the handlers will be dressed as historic or literary characters which are associated with each of the breeds.
